If you’ve followed my adventures of Bandwidth Envy then you’ll know the struggles that I’ve had with accessing the Internet.  Well, my struggles are finally over.

Yesterday, I braved the winter conditions (really, it wasn’t that bad) to make a 1.5 hour trip to North Bay and picked up the last available Rogers Rocket Hub (aka the Ericsson W35 Mobile Broadband Router) in the area — quite possibly the province — until sometime next week.  It was well worth the trip!

If you want to see more about this wonderful device you can check out the article I wrote for HubPages.

I am amazed at the reliability and speed of this device, not to mention the ease of setting it up.  It Rogers Rocket Hub (Ericsson W35)allows us to connect multiple computers and devices (up to 10 WiFi connections) that share a cellular connection to the internet of up to 7.2 Mbps at a price that really blows away the available competition out here.  In urban areas it wouldn’t match the price/performance of cable or DSL, but the mobility of the device would be very handy for people who move a lot or travel (say to the cottage).  Your internet can travel with you!

All in all, I’m very, very happy to have a solution that allows us to have all 3 computers on the net at the same time, with very good speed and without tying up the phone.  Next, we’ll have to get the Wii set up …
