FlashFreeze WordPress Plugin

Have you had trouble the the Flash media uploader when trying to get your pictures into a post?  Do you always switch to the Browser media uploader?  I thought it would be nice to have the browser version come up by default so I build this plugin to make it happen.

Installation

  1. Download the FlashFreeze plugin and extract it into the wp-content/plugins directory.  This should create a flash-freeze subdirectory.
  2. In the Plugins menu, activate FlashFreeze.
  3. Relax and enjoy!

Settings

There are no settings for the plugin — it works as soon as it’s activated.  To turn it off deactivate the plugin.

Notes

This has only been tested in WP 2.7.0 up to 2.9.2.  I don’t know if this is an issue in older versions — I believe the Flash uploader is new to 2.7.0.  I’ve discovered that the Flash uploader was added in version 2.5.  However, I am not able to verify that it works correctly in these older versions.  If anyone has tested it in an older version please let me know.

The plugin is licensed under GPL version 3.

This plugin works by hooking into the ‘flash_uploader’ filter and telling the system not to use Flash.  This means that you cannot switch to the Flash version at this point.  This may be addressed in a future version if there is a demand for it.

There are no settings for this plugin.  To stop it from blocking the Flash version just deactivate it on the Plugins menu.  This may be addressed in future versions.
